Hallowe'en and Horror

Horror Franchise: Nightmare On Elm Street (1984 – 2010)

I love watching scary movies around this time of year and there’s nothing I love quite like a horror franchise. Seeing how the film’s plots and tropes evolve or devolve as the films go on is pretty fun. Robert Englund as Freddy burst onto our screens in 1984, with Wes Craven’s Nightmare On Elm Street. The movie was so popular it spawned sequels almost yearly, into the 90’s, and included a spin off TV show, as well as a reboot in 2010.

As a Halloween special this year, I watched all 9 of the Freddy Krueger films to share them with you. Watch the video below to learn more about these films, it’s part watch guide, part review, with little history thrown in as always.

I’ve watched quite a few horror franchises now, and have made posts and watch guides for quite a few, so if you’re interested in those as well, see the full list of horror franchise posts HERE.
