Australian Movie Month: Muriel’s Wedding (1994)

Starring: Toni Collette, Rachel Griffiths, Bill Hunter

Director: PJ Hogan

You’re terrible, Muriel.

Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths star in this film about not fitting in and learning to stand out. Muriel dreams of getting married, and ends up stealing her parent’s money to finance a vacation to meet the man of her dreams. Instead, she finds a true friend who will help her find herself. A great feel good film, filled with humour, ABBA tunes, friendship and real feeling. Full review below.

  1. “You can’t stop progress!” God, I love this film. It’s really well written, laugh-out-loud funny, surprisingly moving at times, and Toni Collette is fantastic in it. Cool review!
