Classic Movie Of The Week: Peyton Place (1956)

Starring: Lana Turner, Hope Lange, Lee Philips,

Director: Mark Robson

Based on Grace Metalious dark and controversial expose of American life and culture, this book caused huge furor in it’s day. The film was a huge success, and is largely a forgotten soapy phenonemon and cult classic.

  1. Incidentally, this movie also gave birth to an iconic piece of menswear – the Harrington jacket, worn by Rodney Harrington (Barry Coe). That jacket was then manufactured by British clothing company Baracuta, under the G9 designation.
