I love doing podcast appearances and working with Damien Riley is always really fun. This time we thought we would watch and talk about Grey Gardens, the 1975 documentary about a mother and daughter who were the black sheeps of Jackie Kennedy’s family, and who lived in poverty in their crumbling East Hamptons mansion called Grey Gardens. It’s a film that’s hard to describe. Are the women mentally ill or free spirits? How did they come to be so isolated? It’s a film that has developed a cult following over the years and is absolutely fascinating.
We caught up to talk about the film, and also chatted about the nature of fame, movies in the 70’s and a few other movie related things. Go listen.
This is one of the very few films I couldn’t finish.
