Starring: Adam West, Burt Ward, Julie Newmar
Director: Rick Morales
In this 2016 cartoon movie, the original cast of the 60’s Batman TV show reunite to voice the characters they played in the popular and very camp TV series. Batman and Robin, with the help of the ever faithful Alfred, fight to save the city of Gotham from the evil clutches of The Joker, The Penguin, The Riddler, and of course, the seductive Catwoman.
What’s so wonderful about this movie is that it’s so much like the original show, which I used to love watching on TV when I was a kid. Of course, at the time, I had no idea that it was kind of OTT, I just thought it was great (Catwoman was my favourite character). As an adult, I get a lot more of the humour, and this cartoon packs in a whole lot of jokes, taking the piss out of itself, out of the Batman and Robin duo, and just having fun with the whole thing while telling what is actually a pretty good story. I loved every minute of it.
And Aunt Harriet’s innuendos about Bruce and Dick’s frequent “fishing trips”… A really fun film.
See It If: you’re a fan of Adam West or if you grew up on the old Batman series, you’ll get a real kick out of this.
I watched this film months ago and you are absolutely right it is a brilliant follow up to the campy original show.
I did feel at times the cringe factor was going way over the top but evil batman is just brilliant. I did feel really sorry for Alfred right up until the great twist at the end

I love that special brand of Batman campiness.

Entertaining, but Adam West sounded like he was holding himself up with the Batwalking frame.
